As a small organisation we would simply not be able to do the work that we do without the help and support from our community of volunteers, donors, visitors, partners and friends. As a grass roots organisation whose work has spanned over 20 years, we have the benefit of very close relationships with all the villages that we support. We have watched children who attended the first RIDE funded school grow up and raise families of their own.
We invite you to become a part of our community and share the work that we do with your friends, relatives and colleagues. We welcome visitors with open arms and love having the opportunity to share special moments with others; the villagers feel extremely honoured when outsiders show an interest in what they do.
The best way to really understand the issues facing the rural communities in south India is to experience it firsthand. You are invited to do this either through our Eco-Tourism package or through volunteering with RIDE on a short or long term basis. Visit our blog to read about the experiences of past volunteers.
However, you don’t have to be in India to volunteer with RIDE! We are always looking for people to promote RIDE and help us connect with organisations around the world including colleges and universities, charitable organisations and publications. It was one of our valued volunteers who recommended RIDE to Lonely Planet and secured us an advert in their India and South India guide books. This recommendation now accounts for the majority of referrals we receive for both volunteering and our Eco-Tourism program.
