Last week, RIDE again distributed student scholarships to the amount of Rs. 600 to 27 selected poorest students from the Kanchipuram district. This support is possible through the LIC life insurance policy and enables the students to buy new school material like books, clothes, pens etc. Beside the official distribution by RIDE director S. Jeyarej and RIDE staff to the students and their parents, Kanchipuram Lion Club Members K. B. Kumanan and A. K. Nagarjan held speeches and expressed their support for RIDE. Also, two new volunteers with RIDE, Anja and Markus, attended the event and presented some of the awards.
With these scholarships the students receive the chance to go on with their education towards the 9th up to 12th standard of study.
